Claude Legacy Chat ("the Service", "the App") is a personal, non-commercial software project created and maintained by Abhinav Soni, made available to the public free of charge. The Service is a privacy-focused front-end interface that connects users to Anthropic's Claude AI models through Anthropic's official API.
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. What This Service Is (And Isn't)
What this is: A free, open-source-style chat interface that lets you talk to Claude AI using your own Anthropic API key. The interface adds features like persistent memory, model switching, and reasoning visibility.
What this is not:
It is not an Anthropic product. The creator has no affiliation with Anthropic, Inc.
It is not a commercial service. No revenue is generated from your use.
It is not a managed AI service. The AI responses come directly from Anthropic.
It is not a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, etc.).
3. Your Responsibility as a User
By using this Service, you confirm and agree that:
You are at least 18 years of age, or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher.
You are solely responsible for how you use the Service and any content you generate, send, or receive through it.
You are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Anthropic's own usage policies.
You assume all risk associated with your use of AI-generated content, including but not limited to acting upon it, sharing it, or relying on it for decisions.
You will not hold the creator liable for any consequences arising from your use of the Service.
Important: The creator does not see, monitor, or have any access to your conversations. Conversations are stored only on your device. This also means the creator has no ability to recover lost data, moderate content, or assist with disputes about generated content.
4. Prohibited Uses
You agree NOT to use the Service for:
Any illegal activity under your local, national, or international law
You are required to provide your own Anthropic API key to use the Service. By doing so:
You are solely responsible for all charges incurred against your Anthropic account
You acknowledge the creator has no way to charge you, control your usage, or refund any Anthropic charges
You confirm that your API key is stored only on your device's local storage and the creator does not have access to it
You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential. If you suspect it has been compromised, you must revoke it at console.anthropic.com
7. No Warranty / "As-Is" Service
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
Warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated responses
Warranties regarding availability, uptime, or performance
Warranties that the Service will be error-free, secure, or free from harmful components
AI responses may be incorrect, biased, outdated, or harmful. You must independently verify any information before acting on it.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE CREATOR (Abhinav Soni) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
Direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
Loss of data, profits, revenue, business opportunities, or goodwill
Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service
Damages resulting from AI-generated content, including content that turns out to be inaccurate, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise unlawful
Damages from third-party actions, including unauthorized access to your device, API key, or stored data
Charges incurred on your Anthropic account, regardless of cause
Any consequences of service interruption, downtime, or discontinuation
In no event shall the creator's total cumulative liability exceed the amount you paid to the creator for the Service, which is zero (€0).
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, the creator's liability shall be limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the creator (Abhinav Soni) from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
Your use or misuse of the Service
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any law or third-party rights
Content you generate, send, or receive through the Service
Any claim that your content infringes or violates the rights of any third party
These Terms of Use govern your use of this hosted instance of the Service (operated by Abhinav Soni). Self-hosting your own copy of the code is permitted and encouraged, but you do so under the MIT License terms, not these hosted-service Terms.
The Claude name, model identifiers, and AI outputs are property of Anthropic, Inc. and subject to their terms.
11. Changes & Termination
The creator may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
The creator reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (including this hosted version) at any time, with or without notice, for any reason. No refunds are applicable as the Service is free.
12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Dresden, Saxony, Germany, except where prohibited by mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction (such as EU consumer rights).
For abuse reports, please use the subject line "ABUSE REPORT — Claude Legacy Chat" and include as much detail as possible. The creator will investigate within a reasonable timeframe but makes no guarantees about response time or outcome.
